The Things They Carried

I read the book called “the thing they carried” it has 21 small stories about the war Vietnam War. It starts from by telling us the thing the solders carried during war and on the field. Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from a girl Martha that he was in love with. Henry Dobbins carried extra ration and canned of peaches. Dave Jensen carried toothbrush, dental floss and soap the soldiers were walking thought the jungle when they heard gunshots. They drop to the ground to the ground and trying to figure where the shooting was happening. Ted Lavender was shouted in the head and the other soldiers were trying to get to him. Ted had no hope he was die quickly. Jimmy crossed blamed himself for Ted death because he was too busy daydreaming about Martha. When Tim O’Brien was draft in the war he was very upset. Tim felt like out of the people him and never was the type of person who likes to fight. Day by day he would think about the war and how he might die. One day mentally he had enough went home wrote a letter to his parents. Get in his car drove to Canada where he met this old man that make him realize what he need to do. Tim ends up going to home and going to war. After the war Tim visit Jimmy Cross to see how he was doing. Jimmy told him the story about went he seen Martha again. My personal reaction to this reading selection is the Vietnam War was senseless and the soldiers went through a lot. I believe the author’s intent was to share with the stories of Vietnam War and the patterns of organization I observe is Importance of order.
